QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications for this position:

High school diploma or GED; two (2) or more years of experience and/or training in security or other related field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Candidate may not have any criminal convictions.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of an Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate preferred; must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets the insurability requirements of the Authority’s insurance provider.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive.

Motor vehicle, calculator, computer, computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office), mobile phone, fax machine, copier, scanner, telephone, postage machine, and other standard modern business office equipment.

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee works in the vicinity of floor or wall openings, elevated platforms, and/or runways; has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); works in or around crowds; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons or vicious animals or life threatening situations; has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; exposure to hazardous driving conditions; this is considered light work and the employee must demonstrate the ability to perform the physical demands required of the position in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor’s physical demands strength ratings.

In cases of emergency, unpredictable situations, and/or department needs, may be required to lift, push, pull, and/or carry objects heavier than D.O.L. strength ratings recommended.



Job Information:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

(1) Patrols CMHA property to monitor and prevent intrusion, damage, hazards and breaches of security. Protects staff & visitors from theft, damage, trespassing or accidents. Provides a visible presence that enforces safety and security. Identifies and investigates suspicious behavior, threats and irregular activity Responds to alarms and requests for help. Monitors and controls entrance and departure of staff & visitors according to prescribed protocol. Detects and confronts unauthorized persons and violators of security procedures. Enforces relevant laws and regulations pertaining to all individuals on CMHA property.

(2) Assists local law enforcement, fire departments, and federal law enforcement agencies as requested.

(3) Attends meetings, as directed; attends training and seminars, as directed.

(4) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

(5) Maintains required licensure and/or certification.

(6) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
