Scholarships

Thank you for your interest in scholarship opportunities for the 2026–2027 academic year. Presented below is a list of available scholarships, their respective application deadlines, and links to submit applications.

Some scholarships require proof of residence with CMHA. If you choose to apply, please list Ayub Awnuh (aawnuh@cmhanet.com) as the housing provider contact on your application.

Jerry Grier Scholarship

In 2014, OCIC launched the Jerry Grier Scholarship (JGS) program to help reduce financial barriers low-income students often face in their pursuit of higher education. OCIC’s intent through the JGS is to provide both financial and support services for students to create a more stable platform from which they can follow their dreams while elevating their trajectory. The JGS is available to residents of affordable housing developments where OCCH has investment.

  • Tuition and performance-based scholarships are available
    • Tuition Scholarship: Up to $8,000 for tuition and fees
    • Performance-based Scholarship: Up to $2,000 in financial support for students that earn grades of “C” or better in all classes that are taken during a semester

National Leased Housing Association Scholarships

The NLHA Education Fund was established as a 501(c)(3) organization to raise funds for the purpose of awarding education grants and scholarships to low-income individuals residing in federally assisted rental housing owned, managed, or administered by members of the National Leased Housing Association. The National Leased Housing Association (NLHA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and preservation of decent and safe affordable rental housing.


  • Amount: $500-$3,500
  • Application deadline: March 13th, 2026
  • Students can only apply for ONE of the following scholarships:
    • Air Gives Opportunity Scholarship:Awarded to students who demonstrate both merit and need and are pursuing an undergraduate degree.
    • William F. Gandert Memorial Vocational Scholarship:Awarded to a graduating high school senior or returning student who demonstrates both merit and need to pursue educational opportunities in a specific trade or vocation.
    • Mary Lou Manzie Memorial Scholarship:Awarded to a non-traditional student who demonstrates both merit and need. They must be accepted to a college/certified training program or enrolled in educational classes/a certified training program with a minimum of 10 hours per week of class or training.
    • Neil Churchill Memorial Scholarship:Assists current undergraduate students or other students with tuition for graduate level studies.

HAI Group Resident Scholarship Program

HAI Group’s Resident Scholarship Program helps low-income students pay for higher education. To date, we have awarded nearly $2 million to more than 500 students across the country—students who have gone on to careers in nursing, education, social work, and more. Students can be awarded scholarships up to four consecutive years.


NAHMA Educational Foundation

The NAHMA Educational Foundation encourages application from any resident of an Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA) member community who is a high school senior, holds a high school diploma, or GED and intends to continue, or begin, their pursuit in higher education in the 2026 year. Higher education includes attendance to an accredited college, university, community college, trade/professional school, or institute. The invitation is open to all those eligible to apply for scholarship grants to be awarded in 2026. The NAHMA Educational Foundation is a privately funded, non-profit organization created in 1994 to further charitable and educational opportunities for residents of AHMA member communities. This will be the 18th consecutive year the Foundation has made scholarships available.

Midwest Affordable Housing Management Association (MAHMA)

These scholarships are intended to provide educational and career opportunities to deserving individuals living in affordable housing units or working in the affordable housing industry and their family members. Considering the many challenges facing potential scholarship applicants, it is the goal of MAHMA to award scholarships based on the applicants’ demonstrated qualities of scholarship, motivation, character and leadership.

North Central Regional Council of NAHRO

NCRC NAHRO is pleased to announce the availability of its annual Ernest J. Bohn Education Scholarships. Two successful candidates are eligible for scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 or $500.00 respectively. Scholarship funds may be used for any expenses directly related to postsecondary education (tuition, room/board, books, etc.).

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship:

CBC Spouses Education Scholarship awards academically talented and highly motivated full-time students pursuing an undergraduate, graduate or doctoral/PhD degrees in a variety of fields.

CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship:

This award is for full-time scholars pursuing a degree in visual arts including, but not limited to, architecture, ceramics, drawing, fashion, graphic design, illustration, interior design, painting, photography, sketching, video production and other decorative arts.

WPCU Sunshine Community Fund®:

The Program awards a $2,500 scholarship to at least two selected recipients each year. Recipients who are eligible and still enrolled in an undergraduate program at Wright State University or the University of Cincinnati may renew their scholarship for an additional $2,500 in funding for the following fall semester, which then becomes a total of $5,000 in total scholarship funding. Proof of eligibility may be required upon request for all renewal scholarship funds. All renewal scholarship funds will be disbursed 12 months after original scholarship funds are awarded.
